On April 14th, 2024, the Good Lord called John Philip Morrissey home. John was born in Cohoes, New York to the late William T. Dee and Agnes Kay Fitzgerald Morrissey. He was youngest of his siblings who all have predeceased him, Dr. Joan Altekruse, (sister), Dr. William Morrissey (brother), and Lynn Ann Morrissey Strike (sister). John was a wonderful gift to his many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
John graduated high school from La Salle Institute, in Troy, NY where he lettered in Football, Basketball, Track, and Baseball. John was offered a scholarship to the College of the Holy Cross where he played football and basketball.
After College John served in the U.S. Marine Corps where he was in the champion headquarters and service battalion basketball team. After living and working in Washington, DC for a short time, John went on to be a medical supervisor for Albany County Department of Social Services, where many benefited from his empathy.
John was a giver. With a big heart, he was happy to share all he had including his love, laughter, and song. What an incredible singing voice he had! John was an amazing caregiver to his parents as they aged.
