Zunilda Edith Levin McNally, also lovingly known as Zuni, passed away peacefully by her daughter's side on Tuesday July 30, 2024. She was 78 years old.
Zunilda was born on October 20th, 1945 in Huillinco, Chile. She was a force to be reckoned with and who with much determination and perseverance overcame many obstacles in her life.
Zunilda had the joy of living in other countries and experiencing different cultures around the world. She came to the United States to permanently reside in 1981 and lived in her home in Vienna, Virginia for over 40 years. She was a single mother who with the help of many real life angels was able to overcome adversity and succeed. In the late 80's she found a career in the banking industry and served as a teller for many years before retiring in 2004.
Zunilda is survived by her four children, Alberto Rodrigo Escobar (Cristina) of Vienna, Virginia, John Francis McNally of Tampa, Florida, Nancy McNally Seabrook (David) of Silver Spring, Maryland and Michael McNally (Heather) of Vienna, Virginia; and her 9 grandchildren, Riley, Julius, Bohdi, Sojourner, Sebastian, Sydney, Christian, Isabella and Isaiah. She is preceded in death by her mom Maritza Skarmeta Butcher.
Zunilda will be most remembered for being a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was to cook delicious meals and enjoy them alongside her family. She was a Top Chef! She was also most proud of her Chilean heritage and would share her culture and language with everyone she met. She will be profoundly missed and will forever live in our hearts.
Visitation will begin at 10am on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 4900 Strathmore Avenue, Garrett Park, MD 20896; where the Funeral Mass will begin at 11am. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park in Rockville, MD.
