Vasili Kavadias, born on October 30, 1938, passed away on October 15, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Dimitroula Lolos Kavadias; the devoted father of Gregory (Lizbeth) Kavadias; and the proud grandfather of Julieta and Marcela. Vasili was the cherished brother of Konstantinos (Penelope) Kavadias and will be deeply missed by his stepchildren - Konstandinos Lolos, Stella Lolos (Niko), and Eleni Lolos (Haralambos); by his sister-in-law, Koula; as well as by numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends in both the United States and Greece.
Vasili was predeceased by his first wife, Ifegenia; his sister, Maria; and his brothers, Gabriel and Dionisios, all of whom he remembered with deep affection.
Born Vasilogerasimos in the village of Kothreas on the island of Kefalonia, Greece, Vasili was immensely proud of his full Kefalonian name and heritage. Following the devastating earthquake that struck the island in 1953, he immigrated to the United States with his late brother, Gabriel, seeking new opportunities while holding fast to his Greek roots and traditions.
A longtime and faithful member of St. Sophia and Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Churches, Vasili's faith and pride in his heritage were central to his life.
He will be fondly remembered for his deep love of the sea - whether fishing, boating, or simply spending time near the water. A true gentleman who delighted in entertaining, sharing good food, and enjoying the company of family and friends. Known for his warm smile and joyful demeanor, he faced his long-term health challenges with calm strength and patience while always maintaining his zest for life.
