William Thomas Conlon, Jr., age 88, of Silver Spring MD passed peacefully on Friday, July 1st, supported by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents William, Sr and Hildred (Van Valkenburg) Conlon and brothers Jack and Gardner.
Bill was born on June 14, 1934 in Athens NY. He attended Coxsackie-Athens High School, graduating in 1952. He was a patriotic American and proudly served in the USAF from 1952 – 1956. With assistance from the GI Bill and his wife, Carol, he attended Capitol Tech and received a degree in the Applied Sciences. For 35 years he was employed by Vitro Labs as an Electrical Engineer. Upon retirement he worked as an assistant to Gilbert Roys Masonry.
Bill was an antique car buff and owner of a 1960 Corvette and a 1974 Karrmanghia…both bright red. He enjoyed NASCAR and the camaraderie of the members of his family, several car clubs, Knights of Columbus, friends and neighbors.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Carol; daughter, Pamela (Scott) Hohl, of Rockville MD; son, William III and grandson, Liam Conlon of Thurmont MD. He will be sorely missed by his family and all who knew him.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 9th at 11 AM, at Resurrection Catholic Church, 3315 Greencastle Rd, Burtonsville MD. Visitation will begin prior to the funeral at 10 AM. The family will be there to greet relatives and friends. A repast will follow at the church.
