William “Tim” Beyer, 95 years young, of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on March 27, 2025. A kindhearted and devoted man, Tim embodied the Christian values he was raised with throughout his life.
Tim was the beloved husband of the late Joan Davis Beyer, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage.
A fourth-generation Washingtonian, Tim was born on May 13, 1929, at his family home on Jennifer Street NW, where he grew up. He attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic School until seventh grade and then continued his education at Georgetown Preparatory School from eighth through twelfth grade, graduating in 1948. During his time at Georgetown Prep, Tim was a standout athlete, playing baseball, basketball, and football. He later attended Georgetown University. In 2009, Tim was inducted into the Georgetown Prep Hall of Fame for his contributions in sports.
Tim’s great-grandmother, Mary Quealy Velati, immigrated from Turin, Italy, through Ellis Island and founded The Original Velati’s at 9th & G Street NW in 1866. After briefly exploring real estate, Tim joined his grandmother, Pauline Velati Beyer, and his father, Brooke Velati Beyer, in the family business, adding to his deep sense of family heritage.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Brooke Velati Beyer and Mildred Quinn Beyer, as well as his brothers Robert Beyer (Jean) and Dr. Brooke Beyer (Teresa), and his sister, Ann Beyer Mooney.
Tim was the loving father of Betsy Pulliam (Tracy), Nancy Beyer Abod (Chris), Billy Beyer (Loren), Teresa Beyer Veith (Tim), Kenny Beyer, and Timmy Beyer. He was also the adoring grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Silver Spring, MD. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Immediately following Mass, Tim and Joan will be interred together at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Maryland.
