Violet Knight

Violet Knight, 102, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025.

Family and friends are invited to join together for Interment Services at 1pm on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Parklawn Memorial Park in Rockville, Maryland.  Please arrive by 12:45pm and line up in your car along the driveway entrance to the cemetery to await procession to the service site. 

Our loving mother:

Violet spent her childhood in Toledo Ohio in a loving Hungarian family. She moved to Washington DC as a young teenager and became an accomplished violinist. She graduated from Peabody Conservatory of music and was recommended for the National Symphony Orchestra. But she met our father, a naval officer and dedicated her life to raising five children with him, mostly in New Jersey and Chicago. When he became chronically ill, she moved the family back to Washington DC., where she cared for her ailing husband and raised her children.

She became a beloved figure in our neighborhood.

She babysat for many of the neighbors children, and became loved by their families.  

She lived in her home on S. Chelsea Ln. from 1967 until her death in 2025. Her children adored her, and served her with love in the last years of her life, inspired by the vast and tolerant love she always gave to us.

She is survived by her five children: Jim, Mary, Lisa, Irene, and Lawson, as well as her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
