Theresa Ann Mannion, known as Terry to all who loved her, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, at the age of 77, in Silver Spring, Maryland. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 47 years, James Mannion; her daughter and greatest joy, Mary Mannion; her sister, Marie Lombardi Pitoniak (Anthony); and her brother-in-law, Michael Mannion. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces, Barbara DeThomasis (Ken) and Elizabeth Mannion (Cole); her nephew, Jimmy McGoldrick (Wendy); her great-niece and nephew, Ashleigh Evans (Brandon) and Kenneth DeThomasis (Ashley); and her great-grand-nieces and nephews, all of whom filled her heart with pride and happiness.
Terry is reunited in peace with her sister, Catherine Lombardi McGoldrick (James); her niece, Marianne Pitoniak (Dave); and her parents, Charles Lombardi and Mary Cuccherini Lombardi, along with many cherished family members and friends who welcomed her home.
Born on September 22, 1948, in Dunmore, Pennsylvania, Terry was the youngest of three sisters in a close-knit family where love, laughter, and loyalty were constants. Her Dunmore roots never left her. She returned each year for the Italian Festival, to visit familiar streets, and to honor her parents, and she recently traveled home to help plan her 60th high school reunion.
After graduating from Dunmore High School, Terry attended the University of Maryland, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1971. A proud member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, she was remembered as vibrant, fun-loving, and the life of the party. She formed lifelong friendships and fondly recalled her college years, including bartending at the legendary Rendezvous.
In 1976, through a sorority sister, Terry met the love of her life, Jim Mannion, at a Super Bowl X party. From that night on, they were inseparable. They married on September 16, 1978, at St. Anthony’s Church in Dunmore in a joyful celebration still remembered for its legendary cookie table. Their marriage was built on laughter, devotion, and a shared sense of fun, and Terry cherished Jim through the years. Terry and Jim made their home in the North Woodside neighborhood of Silver Spring, where Terry’s festive spirit became well known. She loved decorating for every holiday—especially Christmas—and her home brought smiles to neighbors and schoolchildren alike.
While Terry worked in administrative roles throughout the D.C. and Maryland area, including Metro Graphics, Adoptions Together, and REMAX Excellence, her true calling was motherhood. Her lifelong dream was fulfilled with the birth of her daughter, Mary, on January 4, 1989. Terry devoted herself wholeheartedly to being present—at school, church, and home—and became a beloved “bonus mom” to Mary’s friends, remembered for her warmth, humor, and endless generosity.
Terry treasured time with Jim and Mary above all else. Together they traveled to Dunmore, Ocean City, Italy, and wherever life took Mary, finding joy simply in being together. Known for her red lipstick, sweet tooth, love of holidays, and her saying, “I like what I like,” Terry’s personality was unmistakable. Above all, she was fiercely loyal, endlessly loving, and devoted to caring for others. Her legacy is one of warmth, generosity, and love that will live on in all who knew her.
Services will be held on February 21, 2026, at 12:00 PM at St. John’s Historic Church, 9700 Rosensteel Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland, followed by a celebration of life at the Knights of Columbus Hall across the street.
