Steven DeLuca Obituary

Steven Douglas DeLuca, 59, was called home to God on January 25th, 2025. Born on October 2nd, 1965, he was the youngest of three sons to Francis Carroll DeLuca and Patricia Cecile DeLuca (née O’Brien).

A Maryland native, Steven attended the St. Camillus School and graduated from Good Counsel High School, class of 1983.

Having started taking guitar at eleven years old, Steven excelled at art and music. He was the lead guitarist and singer for Crystal Vision, a popular cover band. While playing regular gigs and writing his own music, Steven also attained an art degree from Montgomery College.

Steven met the love of his life, Rowena DeLuca (née Riggs), at Comsite International in 1988. A whirlwind romance led to the Sacrament of Marriage on January 14th, 1989, at St. Catherine Labouré in Silver Spring. They went on to have three children, Courtney Alane Curry (née DeLuca), Everett Douglas DeLuca, and Briannon Cecelia DeLuca.

An avid sports fan, Steven planned his Sundays around two things: Mass, and the Dallas Cowboys. He taught Christian Communications Doctrine at St. Bernadette’s Roman Catholic Church for decades. Having taught fifth grade for a time, he ultimately became an integral part of the Confirmation process with his eighth grade students. Steven was also a loyal Washington Capitals and Baltimore Orioles fan. His commitment to his faith, his family, and his sports teams were unmatched.

Preceded in death by Patricia Cecile DeLuca (née O’Brien). Steven is survived by his father, Francis Carroll DeLuca, his brothers, Eddie DeLuca (Valerie), Frank DeLuca Jr., his children, and three wonderful nieces.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to VH1’s “Save the Music” Foundation; an organization that provides instruments for and aids in the instruction of underfunded musical education programs. Donations can be made by following this link: savethemusic.org
