Sokratis Vassilios Stassinos

Sokratis Stassinos, 81, passed away in Holy Cross Germantown Hospital on November 7, 2020. Sokratis was born on November 15, 1938 in Arta, Greece to the late Vassilios and Ephrosini Stassinos. Sibling to the late Dimitris, Georgios, Paraskevi, Argio, and Christos; survived by his sister Dimitria.

He married Maria Latsis in May of 1965 and lived happily as husband and wife until her passing in 2003. Sokratis was father to Ephroshine (Vassilios) and the late Vassilios, who passed away in 2009. He was the beloved grandfather of Maria (Peter) and Constantina; Great-Grandfather to Basil.

Sokratis will be deeply missed for his eccentric sense of humor and quick (sometimes barbed) wit, both of which were his way of showing his deep care and affection for his loved ones. 

Funeral Liturgy will begin at 11am on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 701 Norwood Road, Silver Spring, Maryland 20905.  Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Maryland.   NB ~ Due to Coronavirus restrictions, gathering for the interment at the cemetery is limited to 25.
