Simon Asad Salameh passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023.
He was born in Palestine on December 13, 1933 to parents Asad and Hannah. He was the 6th of 8 children. In his twenties Simon traveled to Egypt where he met his future wife and mother of his children Theresa Isseyegh. They married and lived in Kuwait for the birth of all 5 of their children. In 1974 they moved to the US where Simon became a business owner of several restaurants.
After 46 years of marriage, Simon lost his beloved wife to illness. A few years later he met and married his current wife Leila Matar who also lost her husband to illness.
Simon lived by the values of faith and family. He loved to be surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He loved playing cards, going to the casino's and taking beach vacations.
He was predeceased by his devoted first wife, Theresa Isseyegh Salameh; his parents, Asad and Hannah Salameh; and by his siblings, Josephine, Yousef, Marie Anton, Antoinette and Juliet.
He is survived by his current wife, Leila Matar; his children Sameer (Daad), Muneer (Dora), Robert (Ana), Diana (Bob) and Ronny (Stephanie); 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way; and by his brother Ghassan (Janette). Simon was also blessed with 3 step sons and 6 step grandchildren, 21 nieces and nephews and 47 grand nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 11am on Monday, December 11, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church - 520 Veirs Mill Rd, Rockville, MD 20852; where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12noon. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
