Sandra (Sandy) Elizabeth Kimbell (née Voina), of Montgomery Village Maryland was called to God on Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026 at the age of 76. She passed quietly at Wilson Health Care at Asbury Methodist Village where she had been a resident following a pair of strokes almost three years earlier.
Sandy was born to James and Elizabeth Voina in 1949 in Youngstown, Ohio where she lived the early part of her life. She was a beloved wife of Steven Kimbell, devoted sister to Marcia Ruse of Canfield Ohio, and adoring aunt to 12 nieces and nephews.
Sandy worked many jobs and held many positions. From her early days at Westside Merchants (Bureau of Motor Vehicles), to Harris Corporation in Florida, to perhaps her favorite position as an Administrative Assistant in the Competitions Division of the NRA. She also very much loved her time as an Administrative Assistant at St. John Neumann in the religions education department.
Sandy was a devout Catholic who served many years as Eucharistic Minister at St. John Neumann Church in Gaithersburg, and also spent time as a teacher’s assistant at Mother of God School across the street from the church.
Ironically her last position was at Asbury Methodist Village where she worked positions from the gatehouse to receptionist at several of the buildings, including Wilson Healthcare where she was to spend the last couple of years of her life.
Visitation will begin at 10am on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland; where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11am. Internment will take place at a future date in Youngstown, Ohio.
