Ruth Saborio Hornickle

Ruth Saborio Hornickle, 82, passed away on May 13, 2025 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland following a brief illness.  

Ruth was born in Ocotal, Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua on December 22,1942, the daughter of Enrique Saborio and Rosa Idalia Ramos. She arrived in the United States during the early 1960’s to attend Catholic University in Washington, DC. She ultimately decided to attend cosmetology school and began her 50+ year career as a licensed cosmetologist. 

Ruth married her husband Robert “Bob” Hornickle on November 16,1968 in Washington, DC. They had two daughters, Adrienne (Troy) Reinhart and Amy R. Hornickle. Ruth leaves her husband, children and three grandchildren: Alycen, Bianca and Forrest Reinhart. 

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday June 13th at 10am at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 7501 Adelphi Road, Hyattsville, MD. Interment to follow at Parklawn Memorial Park at 1pm, 12800 Viers Mill Road, Rockville, MD.
