Roberta Lee Jenner Aquilla Thogerson

Roberta Lee Jenner Aquilla Thogerson, known as Bobbi, passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 78. Born in Malden, Massachusetts to Harold and Benita Jenner, she came to Silver Spring, MD as a child and lived with her Aunt Georgia and cousin Richard Green.  She later spent over 10 years with the family of Tony and Josephine Aquilla.  She attended St. Catherine Laboure Elementary, Academy of the Holy Cross, and graduated from Einstein High School.

Bobbi was married to David Thogerson, with whom she had a son, George Thomas Thogerson. She later married Frank Shannon, and they had a daughter, Karen Lynn Shannon, who predeceased her in 2020. Bobbi was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren: Nik, Lucas, Michael, Daniel, and Madelyn, and a great-grandmother to Gabriel.

A survivor of a serious car accident in 1976, Bobbi lived with epilepsy for nearly four decades. She spent 40 years in Grand Bel Manor Condominiums in Silver Spring, where she was actively involved in the condominium association. In 2015, she moved to Friends House Community in Sandy Spring, MD, where she volunteered and served as vice president.

In addition to her grandchildren, Bobbi is survived by her son George, son-in-law George Shiblie, and sisters Emogene Bevitt and Terrie Fajardo.

Visitation will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 4101 Norbeck Rd., Rockville, MD 20853, on February 13, 2025, at 10:30am.  A Catholic Funeral Mass will follow promptly at 11:30am.
