Robert Kaiser Obituary

Robert E. Kaiser, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, age 84, and a resident of Rockville, Maryland passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

Robert was a proud first generation American, born on March 16, 1941, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph E. Kaiser, Jr. and Antonia M. Kaiser (nee Grill). Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marilyn J. Kaiser, of 57 years. He is survived by his son Robert J. Kaiser (Karen), his daughter Jacqueline A. Clark (David), as well as his grandchildren Ryan Clark, Alyssa Clark and Carson Kaiser. He is also survived by his Aunt Jeanette L. Stefonsky (late Michael) and Sister-in-Law Catherine Rowe (late Edward).

Robert spent his childhood years in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, moved with his family to Cleveland, Ohio where he spent his teenage years and truly grew up - where he would find love, start a family and begin his career.

A 1960 West High School graduate, Robert (Bob) was a Manager Trainee at F.W. Woolworth Company until landing a job at Shell Oil Co. as a Lead Console Operator. It was during his early work at Shell that he found a passion for computers — a discovery that led to a fulfilling, decades-long career at General Electric, beginning in 1969, where he proudly worked until his retirement.

At Shell Bob discovered his fascination with computers — but, more importantly, met Marilyn, the love of his life. They married on May 21, 1966, and were blessed with two children.

With pride, he served in both the U.S. Army Reserves beginning in September 1964, and on Active Duty in Vietnam from May 1968 through June 1969. Bob completed his military career with an honorable discharge in October of 1969.

In September 1975, Bob’s career with General Electric took the family to Erie, Pennsylvania and then in September 1981 to Rockville, Maryland which became their long-term home. Bob’s progression up through the General Electric ranks reflected his strong work ethic and genuine support for his colleagues.

Bob had a wide range of interests — from his love of computers and football to his favorite music, which included oldies, country, and plenty of Neil Diamond tunes. He enjoyed fishing and boating, whether on Lake Erie or the Chesapeake Bay, with camping often part of the adventure. When not trying his luck at blackjack or poker, Bob made sure to satisfy his sweet tooth with a stop at Dairy Queen.

His favorite activities always included his favorite people - his family. His love for his grandchildren was clear as he eagerly attended every game, award ceremony, and graduation celebration.

The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 10, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, located at 4101 Norbeck Road, Rockville, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30 AM.
