On July 3rd, 2025, Robert T. Campenni passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from cardiac issues while visiting dear friends on his annual trip to Colorado. He is survived by his mother, Jean; his sisters, Christina West and Mary Jean (CJ) Dilorenzo; his nephew and niece, Christopher and Catherine West; his aunts and uncles, Mary Ellen Campenni, William and Kathleen Campenni, Mary and Jerry Epping, and Jeffery Berk; and several cousins and close friends he treasured as chosen family.
Born in Maryland, Rob spent his school years in the Washington, DC area and was a proud graduate of Gonzaga College High School. He spent his early working years in the DC area, and several years ago began working for building materials distributor ABC Supply in their Rockville branch. Rob spent the last 22 years of his career working in a number of roles at the company, including managing a different location in Maryland for a number of years. Six years ago, he brought his operating expertise to the corporate IT department and had a key role in the design and implementation of a computer system being rolled out across the enterprise. He was known as someone who truly cared about the company and his coworkers and was proud to represent such a fine organization where he formed lasting relationships with fellow colleagues who became lifelong friends.
If you were lucky enough to know Rob, you know how funny, intelligent, and generous he was, and that to know him was to love him. Rob had an incredible spirit and his interests varied, but his greatest love of all was music. His appreciation of playing music and listening to it included his love of attending Phish concerts with his closest friends. Throughout his friendships and travels he spread love, laughter, and kindness wherever he went, and he will be missed greatly by all those whose lives he touched. While his time here on earth has been cut short, we are grateful for the fifty-two years spent with the wonderful son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, friend, classmate, and coworker that Rob was.
We will celebrate Rob's life with services on Saturday, August 16th, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 917 Montrose Road, Rockville, MD 20852. Visitation will begin at 10am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Gifts in memory of Rob can be directed to Gonzaga College High School (Gonzaga.org/makeagift) and will be used to support his classmate’s annual scholarship - The Sean Boynes ‘91 Scholarship Fund.
