Robert Biagas Obituary

Robert L. Biagas passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020. He was born on May 14, 1938 in Lawtell, LA to Albert and Ora Jean Biagas. He joins his parents, along with his brothers and sisters, including Alvin Sr., Paul, Hyland, Albert, Percy, Katie, and Theresa in the Lord’s Kingdom of Heaven.

Robert leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife, Rosy T. Biagas; the mother of his children, Theresa G. Biagas; his sister, Maydell Granger; his children, Alena Biagas, Lisa Biagas Loverde, and Tracey Biagas, Ph.D.; his daughters, Alura Guillory and Tiffany Biagas Calderon; his step-children, Remmy Fuentes Telleria (Sissy) and Andrea Bohr (Michael); along with his grandchildren, Justin Biagas (Nancy Huamani), David Stagnoli, Joshua and Catalina Bohr; Aramis and Avril Fuentes; Ashley Lopez Biagas; his great grandson, Brandon Biagas and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and many friends.

Raised in Lake Charles, LA and deeply fond of his Creole heritage, Robert was Catholic and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. After high school, he spent time attending American University as a journalism major and also spent two years in the seminary studying for priesthood. After leaving the seminary, Robert joined the United States Army where he excelled in all aspects of military training. He eventually moved to Washington, D.C. and later received an honorable discharge from the military in the early 1970s. Robert worked mostly in car sales for many area-wide car dealerships during his career. He earned Cadillac’s most prestigious award, Master Manager in the United States, in the 1980s while at Jim Coleman Cadillac in Bethesda, MD.

Robert was an avid sports fan, enjoyed politics, and loved to tell stories and jokes. Robert also enjoyed years as an amateur race car driver and had a deep love and passion for the game of golf. He was an above-average golfer, earning an invitation to the Senior PGA, and won many out-of-state and local golf tournaments, earning the course record (Seniors) at Redgate Golf Course. His golf buddies always wanted to play with him and not against him; and lovingly nicknamed him “Big Ball” for his accurate swing and overall play of the game. Robert will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all those who knew him.

Family and friends will be received at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, 12701 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville, Maryland 20853, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.; the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m.. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, Maryland.
