He eventually moved to Washington, D.C. and later received an honorable discharge from the military in the early 1970s. Robert worked mostly in car sales for many area-wide car dealerships during his career. Robert was an avid sports fan, enjoyed politics, and loved to tell stories and jokes. Robert also enjoyed years as an amateur race car driver and had a deep love and passion for the game of golf. He was an above-average golfer, earning an invitation to the Senior PGA, and won many out-of-state and local golf tournaments, earning the course record (Seniors) at Redgate Golf Course. His golf buddies always wanted to play with him and not against him; and lovingly nicknamed him “Big Ball” for his accurate swing and overall play of the game.
