Rita Lanigan Thomas

Rita Lanigan Thomas, 95 gained her heavenly wings Tuesday, November 9, 2021 as she departed her family from a heart attack. Born June 24, 1926 in Washington, DC to the late Gregory and DeLois Lanigan. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Maxwell Thomas. Survived by her five children: Linda Magolda, Greg Thomas, Maria Luginbill (Steve), Patrick Thomas (Tammy) and Angela Vuitch (Frank); by her 10 grandchildren: Stephanie Barlow, Tommy Luginbill, George Thomas, Bernadette Thomas, Pamela Thomas, Elizabeth Thomas, Ashleigh Thomas Dies, Natalie Thomas, Jay Vuitch and Robin Vuitch; and by five great grandchildren: Caroline and Matthew Barlow, Aubrey Thomas, Rosalee and Amelie Dies and Brooke Anne Luginbill.

Rita was a devout Irish Catholic; her door was always open to family and friends. We toast her farewell and are comforted to know that she was greeted and reunited with her lifelong sweetheart and husband George and many other loved ones.

Visitation will begin at 11:30am on Monday, November 15 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 10103 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20902, where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12 noon.  Interment at St. John's Forest Glen Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD.  Reception to follow the services at 9002 Woodland Drive, Silver Spring, MD 20910.
