Rita Emilia Campos Centeno

Rita E. Campos Centeno, aged 82, died peacefully on January 26, 2021, with her family by her side at Sacred Heart Home in Hyattsville, Maryland, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Rita was born May 22, 1938 in Chontales, Nicaragua.  She left Nicaragua in 1981 and settled in Silver Spring, Maryland. She attended St. Michael the Archangel Church until she was no longer able. She was a proud “Daughter of Mary”, as she loved to call herself, and prayed the Rosary daily.

Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by her children: Yadira, Ileana, Martha, Amina, Yelda, Roberto, Iris and Maria.

Visitation will be from 4 - 8pm on Friday, February 5, 2021 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 7501 Adelphi Rd, Hyattsville, Maryland 20783.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Rita on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 10am., also at St. Mark's Church, with Fr. Roberto Cortes-Campos presiding.
