Richard Brian Graves, of Olney, MD, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday, April 21, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Terry Graves; father of Kristy (Matt) Goodnough, Kevin (Alicia) Graves, Mike (Laura) Graves, Paul (Lindsay) Graves, and Kyle (Anna) Graves; grandfather of Dylan, Parker, Gia, Brookleigh, Jackson, Mickey, Britt, Lincoln, Easton, Grayson, Riley, Hunter, and Frankie; and brother of siblings Chuck (Lori) Graves, Eileen (Jeff) Graves, John (Stella) Graves, and Jim (Terry) Graves. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Teresa Graves and is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
Rich was born in New Haven, CT on January 15, 1957. He married Terry, his wife of 45 years on September 1, 1979. Rich held numerous positions in the finance office at the Archdiocese of Washington for 32 years and upon his retirement Rich served as a Police officer for 12 years in both Prince George’s and Montgomery County Police Departments. In addition to being a devoted husband, father and grandfather, Rich enjoyed softball, cycling, Rock Steady Boxing and karate. He was also a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 24 from 4:00-7:00 pm at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 4101 Norbeck Road, Rockville, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, April 25 at 10:30 am at St. Patrick’s. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
