Richard Paul Collins

Richard Paul Collins, 61, of Brookeville, MD passed away unexpectedly on April 10,2026, leaving a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Paul was born to John P III and Joan C Collins in Silver Spring, MD. He attended Sherwood High School. Paul was a devoted son and lovingly cared for both his mother and father through their illnesses.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, John P Collins III and Joan C Collins, his brothers Stephen Collins and Brian Collins, his nephew Daniel Weatherington, and his nieces Crystal Davis and Cecilia Collins.  He is survived by his siblings John (Jack) Collins IV (Dana), Jim Collins (Barbara), Joe Collins (Colleen), Maria Soderberg (Ray), and Elizabeth Wynkoop (Jeff), as well as 27 nieces and nephews and 29 great nieces and great-nephews. Paul was a proud uncle; he took interest in his nieces’ and nephews’ lives and attended their sporting events to cheer them on.

He also had lifelong friendships that he held close, especially with Roger, Marlene, and Darlene.

Paul enjoyed being outdoors and took pride in the yard and gardens he tended. He was always an athlete, playing for his high school basketball team and of course his love of all things golf. Paul’s affection for animals was undoubtedly passed down from his mother – he made sure all the neighborhood cats were fed and even hand fed the squirrels and chipmunks who showed up at the front door. He could be counted on to be everyone’s Mr. Fix-It, a role in which he excelled. He enjoyed watching old movies and British television, a fan of music and playing his guitar. Paul possessed remarkable knowledge, and this was evident if you ever watched Jeopardy! with him; and he did the New York Times crosswords in pen!

Paul will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him. Gone far too soon, he leaves behind a lifetime of memories and love.

The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, located at 15661 Norbeck Blvd, Silver Spring, MD.  Funeral Mass will begin at 11:30 AM.  A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
