Richard P. Bertocchi passed on to Eternal life on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Suburban Hospital after stroke complications. Richard was born in Malden, Mass. October 4, 1938. He was 83 years old; the 2nd born son of the late Donald Bertocchi and Mary (Gaspari) Bertocchi. He was also predeceased by his older brother, Donald Bertocchi, Jr. He was a member of the Malden High School class of 1956.
Richard met the love of his life, his wife of 56 years and best friend, Jeanette. He served in the Coast and Geodetic Survey for 2 years as a Lieutenant (Jr Grade). He always loved to learn and went on to receive a Master of Science from the School of Engineering and Applied Science at George Washington University in 1973. He was a dedicated Engineer for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years from 1969 until he retired in 1999.
Ultimately settling in for the long haul in Bethesda, Maryland, Richard and his lovely wife raised two children, Michael and Nicole. He was a loving family man who enjoyed traveling around the world, was an avid reader, and a church going community member. He was very involved with Toastmasters International for years. He was an Enumerator for the 2000 Census Bureau.
Richard is survived by his wife, Jeanette (Tapia) Bertocchi; his children Michael R. Bertocchi; Nicole (Bertocchi) Pimble; his two grandsons Jimmy and Joey Pimble, and his daughter-in-law, Diane Bertocchi and son-in-law, Brian Pimble.
Visitation will be at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 917 Montrose Road, Rockville, MD 20852 on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 10:30am-11:30am, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:30am. Reception to follow.
