GAITHERSBURG, MD - Raquel Lim Salientes of Gaithersburg, MD passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Queen’s Memorial Medical Center in Ewa Beach, HI. She was 80 years old. Raquel passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.
Raquel was born in Manila, Philippines on January 12, 1941. She went to school from Kindergarten through college at Assumption College in Herran, Manila, Philippines. Raquel and her husband John emigrated to the United States in 1968 and raised their family in Silver Spring, MD. She was a parishioner of St. Andrews Apostle Catholic Church and worked for the World Bank for over 20 years before retiring.
Raquel was preceded in death by her first husband, Dennis L. Gorres and second husband, John C. Salientes. She was also predeceased by her parents Manuel and Emilia (née Quintos) Lim, her brothers Victor, Manuel Jr., Nestor, and her sisters Sylvia Vargas, Emilita Cruz, and Carmen Ruiz.
She is survived by her 9 children, 6 from her first marriage and 3 from her second, and 25 grandchildren: Dennis Jr. and his wife Isabel (Cruz) of Silver Spring, MD., their children Christopher and his wife Vina, Patrick and his wife Jessica, Francine and her husband Lino Jean, Katrina, and Carmela; Luis and his wife Manolita (Estrella) of Gaithersburg, MD., their sons Michael and Mico; Mark and ex-wife Nancy (Barnes) of Germantown, MD., their son Cody, and her son from her previous marriage, Robert and his wife Shelly; Ramon and his wife Pamela (Perry) of New Market, MD., their children Perry and Raquel; Emmanuel and his fiancée Nicole Frascone of Belair, MD., their son Emmanuel Jr., and her children from her previous marriages, Leanna and her fiancé John Bull, and Chase; Maria Milagros and her husband Galen Beske of Princeton Junction, NJ., and their children Katrina, Holly, and Ryan; Marinella and her husband Gregor Smith of Tunbridge Wells, UK, their daughter Charlotte; Maria Elena and her husband John Cording of Rockville, MD., their children John, Harry, Elena, Rowena, and Owen; and Sonia and her husband Adam Gilbert of Ewa Beach, HI, their sons Lorenzo and Miles.
Raquel is survived by her 10 great grandchildren: Emilita, Marcelo, DJ and Brie (Christopher), Rio (Patrick), Miko (Francine), Sophia (Cody), Chale and Luell (Robert), and Natalie (Leanna).
Visitation services will be held on Monday, December 6, 2021 from 5-8 pm at St. Andrew Apostle Catholic Church in Silver Spring, MD (11600 Kemp Mill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20902).
Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 7, at 10 am at St. Andrew Apostle, followed by interment at Parklawn Memorial and Menorah Gardens in Rockville, MD.
