Patricia Anne Spodnik

Patricia A. Spodnik (Congdon), 89, of Kensington, MD, passed away peacefully on May 29th, 2023. She was born June 27, 1933, in Bridgeport, CT, daughter of Raymond J. Congdon, and Marian A. (McCarthy).  Patricia graduated in 1954 from the St. Raphael Hospital School of Nursing in New Haven, CT.  In 1957, she married Michael J. Spodnik Jr., with whom she would share 57 years of loving marriage.

Pat was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She is predeceased by her husband Michael J. Spodnik,Jr.; brother Raymond J. Congdon Jr. (Dorothy), and daughter Anne E. Cloonan (William).  She is survived by her daughter Mary Louise Schmitt (Harry James).  She is the beloved grandmother to Mary M. Schmitt (Timothy Potens); Patrick Schmitt and Meghan Schmitt; Katherine Hall (Jeremy), and two great-grandchildren Charlotte and Lucie Potens. Her family remembers her with everlasting love and honor.

She enjoyed many years as a volunteer at Holy Cross Academy, Garrett Park, MD, and as the health nurse at Bloomingdales at White Flint. An avid reader, Pat enjoyed cooking, baking, and knitting heirloom sweaters for her grandchildren. She was witty, wise, and her wonderful heart will be sincerely missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on June 17, 2023 at 10am at Holy Cross Church in Garrett Park, MD.
