Patricia Ann Schlapo

June 24, 1933 ~ April 6, 2022 (age 88)

Obituary

Pat was a beauty... no doubt about it!! She was part of the University of Maryland Homecoming court her senior year in college, as a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, and remained a beauty her whole life. But hers was not a superficial beauty...

Married the day after her 22nd birthday to George Schlapo, the love of her life for 66 years, she raised 4 children, Jim, John, Tish and Michael. After that she was able to truly let her beauty shine as she continued her love of helping others.  She served 20 years as a Hospice care worker, started the Leisure club at St Patrick's 33 years ago, became a Eucharistic Minister serving the Aspenwood Senior Living Facility and being part of the Gourmet Club in Flower Valley truly gave her a chance to really show her true self. She loved helping and cooking for/with others.

Pat was also a sucker for plants, flowers and Elephants! The house was turned into a hot house, George tended their amazing gardens and her family slowly filled the house with every type of elephant imaginable! But Elephants were not her favorite animal, that would have been her dogs, from Mutts to massive Great Pyrenees she always had a four legged furry friend by her side.

Not to say she didn't have massive love for her wonderful family, her nephew Bobby, her grandchildren, Courtney, Canice, Kyle, Callie, Alyssa, Gracie, Nikki and Duncan. Of course that was only topped by how much she doted on her great grandchildren, Olivia, Jude, Wesley and Jordan. Pat was truly blessed by the love in her family! Pat was a bulldog when she believed in something and would work hard to make it a reality. But she was also kind and sweet. Of course the sweetness may have been a carryover from her love of sweets. She loved anything and everything if sugar was involved!  Pat will be missed by many people in many different ways. She touched so many lives with her gift of caring. RIP

Visitation will begin at 10:30am on Monday, April 11 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 4101 Norbeck Road, Rockville, MD 20853; where the funeral will begin at 11:30am.
