Noel Rene Benavides

Noel Rene Benavides, born July 23, 1937 (85), died on Thursday, April 13, 2023.  He was born in Falfurrias, Texas. The son of the late Jose (Fred) Alfredo Benavides and Maria Julieta Duverney. He is survived by his brothers Jose Alfredo Benavides and Mario Lamar Benavides. His wife Darlene Benavides. His three daughters, Julie Brown, Katherine Cordero and the late Diana MacDonald. Noel was very proud of his grandchildren Krista, Sheri, Nicholas, Nichole, Jason, Jennifer and Kali, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Throughout his life, Noel enjoyed spending time outside in his garden where he was constantly improving what was already perfect to many. He also enjoyed spending time with family, which meant afternoon BBQ’s, chorizo breakfast, enchiladas and tasty margaritas. Noel was a lover of all animals, but especially dogs. He enjoyed mariachi music, baseball and UCLA football.

Noel was a Navy man having served his Country from 1956-1960 where he worked on a minesweeper. From there he joined the American Legion and loved to go and talk with other Veterans and swap war stories. He was a proud man, who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be at 10:30 AM followed by Funeral Service at 11:30AM on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 15661 Norbeck Blvd., Silver Spring, MD 20906.
