Nancy Parks Taylor, age 95, passed peacefully May 4, 2026. Originally from Mt. Gilead, OH, she was born January 29, 1931 to Vivian and Verner Parks. Nancy attended Muskinghum College in New Concord, OH, where she met the love of her life, Bob Taylor, whom she wed in July 1951, moving to Maryland after Bob’s graduation in 1952, where they raised four children in Bethesda.
Although she was on the quiet side, Nancy led a very active life, participating in bridge club, bowling leagues, and the Chevy Chase and Bethesda Women’s Clubs. She enjoyed sewing clothes and quilts, including fantastic Halloween costumes for her grandchildren.
Her faith and love of music led her to actively participate in the Bradley Hills Presbyterian Church (BHPC) chancel and handbell choirs. In her service to the Ladies’ Guild, she contributed mountains of finger sandwiches for various church receptions, volunteering her children for clean-up duty. Nancy made some of her best friends through BHPC and had countless adventures with them over the years.
She loved flying with her husband and pilot, Bob, in their Beechcraft Bonanza Debonair to places all over the continent. Bethany Beach and the Outer Banks were her favorite destinations.
Her second favorite travel buddy was Sue Rempe, with whom she travelled to Germany, California, Florida, and multiple beach weeks, including a trip to LA with her daughters, daughter-in-law, and best friend, Sue, to be in the studio audience for “The Price is Right.” Watching that show became a legacy which her children continue to this day.
In addition, Nancy inspired others with her love of reading and always seemed to have a book in her hands, favoring a wide variety of genres including Dick Francis horse-related thrillers, James Patterson, John Grisham, John Sanford, regency romance novels by Georgette Heyer, Barbara Bradford, and many others. Playing cards, especially bridge, and the annual Mongtomery County Fair were other passions of hers, especially the cow shows.
Nancy was predeceased by her husband Robert J., her parents Vivian and Verner Parks, her daughter Christine S. Taylor, and her favorite dog, Missy.
She is survived by daughters Patricia A., Laura J., and son Robert P. (Phyllis); by grandchildren Jamie O’Connor (Brendan), Jennifer Wainwright, Richard Wainwright (Jenny), Leanne Taylor, and Jorge Aguilar (Michael); as well as by great grandchildren Ryan O’Connor, Hannah and Jonathan Wainwright.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 27 at 12:30pm in the main sanctuary at Bradley Hills Presbyterian Church, 6601 Bradley Blvd., Bethesda, MD 20817, immediately followed by a reception in Memorial Hall. Interment will be private at Parklawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to Bradley Hills Presbyterian Church “Here for Good” (https://onrealm.org/BradleyHillsChurch/-/form/give/now), or by check sent to the BHPC (Music Department in the memo line) at the above address.
Her life was filled with loving family and friends, faith and music. May her memory be for a blessing.
