Nancy Martin Mann, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed from this life into eternity on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. She had just celebrated her 83rd birthday.
Nancy was born in Baltimore, Maryland on May 13, 1941 to the late Edwin G. and Esther Brookes Martin. The family moved to Silver Spring where Nancy and her sister, Elizabeth (Betsy Martin) Petit de Mange attended grade school at Saint Bernadette. Upon graduation from the Academy of the Holy Names, she attended Georgetown Visitation Junior College and completed her studies at the University of Maryland with a degree in Economics.
Nancy met and married the love of her life, A William (Bill) Mann on April 16, 1966. They were lovingly devoted to one another until his death in 1998. She is survived by her son Christopher Mann (Lee), and daughters Elizabeth Jardeleza (Rob) and Caroline Stewart (John) as well as 11 grandchildren: Andrew, Garrett, Griffin, and Emily Mann; Madeleine (Owen Burns), Maria, William, and Luke Jardeleza; Alexa, Anna, and Brendan Stewart.
Family was everything to Nancy. While raising their family on Marlin Street in Rockville, Nancy and Bill were active parishioners of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She served as PTA president at North Lake Elementary School and was an extremely active volunteer in the community. The hours she devoted to the Flower Valley Swim Team are countless, and she circumnavigated the globe 3 times in carpool miles while carting her children (and grandchildren) to various activities over the years. Live musical performances brought her such joy, frequenting the Kennedy Center and National Theater.
Corolla, North Carolina was Nancy’s happy place. She loved hosting family and friends at Bill’s Retreat, spoiling them with her famous waffles and lasagna. Nancy brought great joy to the lives of many, and she will be greatly missed.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, July 26th, 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 4101 Norbeck Road in Rockville, Maryland. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Maryland.
