Matthew Gregory (Greg) Fremeau entered into eternal rest on February 6, 2022 after a short battle with liver cancer. Greg had just turned 65 years old.
Greg is predeceased by his mother Margaret Hall Fremeau, father Robert Thomas Fremeau, and brother-in-law James “Andy” Kranking. Greg has left behind a loving family - his sister Mary Fremeau Kranking, brother Robert T. Fremeau, Jr., Ph.D., and nieces and nephews Paul Fremeau, Lucie Fremeau-Fernandez (Dave), Katie Kranking (goddaughter), Cara Kranking, Stephen Kranking, Timothy Kranking, and Emily Kranking. His nieces and nephews were his entire world and he loved them dearly.
Greg was born on January 4, 1957 in Washington DC., and grew up in the suburbs of Maryland. He graduated from High Point High School in 1975 and pursued a technical degree from Lincoln Tech Institute. He enjoyed life to the fullest. After graduation, he became an automobile mechanic and enjoyed a productive career with various dealerships and private repair shops. Greg also became involved in the Knights of Columbus council #2809 in College Park, MD, where he created life long friendships. He had a love for motorcycles as well and joined a Maryland Harley Davidson Club and was active community service projects. One such endeavor was “Flags Across America,” supporting our military. Though he never served in the military, he had a deep respect. He also had a great respect for law enforcement, and supported his sister and brother-in-law in the line of duty. Greg was also a member of the Maryland Terrapin Club (Football and Basketball) for many years. Terps were his life! He would follow the team to various Bowl Games throughout the 1970’s and 80’s! His biggest passion were bass and rockfish fishing. So much so, that he moved to sunny Florida to enjoy the warm sun and fishing potential. Greg will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a Memorial Service at the Church of the Resurrection in Burtonsville, MD on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 12 noon. A private internment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
