Mary Katherine Helfrich Keefe passed away peacefully on Saturday April 8th, 2023, after a slow decline in health.  She is survived by her husband of 60 years, David Keefe, along with her two children Connie Sanneman and Dan Keefe, their spouses, 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mary was born to Florence (Tessie) Keeler Helfrich and Harold A. Helfrich and was raised in Spencerport, New York. She graduated from the State University of New York, Geneseo with a bachelor’s degree in education and later from Fordham University with a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision.   She spent over 30 years in elementary education and school administration in Catholic schools in the Archdioceses of New York and Washington.   She served as the vice-principal of St. Mary’s School in Rockville for 10 years.  Her children and grandchildren all attended Catholic schools.

Visitation will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 15663 Norbeck Blvd, Silver Spring, MD 20906; followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am.  Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
