Mary Moss Teller was called to eternal rest on July 20, 2022 after battling with lymphoma for seven months. On her lips in her final moments in her diminished state was the exclamation “So blessed!”
And blessed we were with the life of Mary, born on August 28, 1995 in Fairfax, Virginia to Bill and Betsy Moss. In addition to her parents, she is survived by three older brothers: Richard (Leah), Phil, and Eddy (Sarah). She is now together with her one older sister, Catherine Nicole, who lived for 6 precious days in August of 1993. The family would always include Catherine in their prayers, and it fell to Mary to invoke her intercession: “Catherine Nicole, pray for us”.
She grew up in a joyful, Faith-filled home. As the youngest and only living daughter, she had a tender relationship with her Mom and Dad.
Mary flourished with her father's unwavering and loving confidence in her ability to be who she was created to be. She cherished the closeness with her mother. They were buddies. Mary soaked up her motherly wisdom and affection.
Friendship, she treasured; friends, she had many. She graduated from Oakcrest School in 2013 and from the University of Dallas with a degree in Human Sciences in 2017. There she met the man who would become her best friend and husband, Jack Teller. They started dating during a semester abroad in Rome in the Fall of 2014, and, in October of 2017, boldly set forth in Holy Matrimony shortly after graduating.
Mary was purposeful, thoughtful, and fully committed in whatever she decided to do. Being a spouse and mother defined her. Friends and family admire the special love that she and Jack shared. She had a strong sense that her life was for her husband and children, Siena (born August, 2018) and Grady (born October, 2021).
Mary had a twinkle in her eye and a knack for making a memory. Bold, confident, and adventurous, she cared deeply about others and how they experienced life. With her gentle honesty and simplicity, she helped her friends by word and example.
In her teen years, they recall how she began to pray “Lord, make me holy!” When she was diagnosed with cancer, facing the pain and uncertainty, she resolved to embrace it with Faith and to identify completely with God’s most lovable will. Amid her suffering, her love of God, her devotion to her husband and children, and her love for friends and family shone forth.
