Mary Amelia Russell Obituary

Mary Amelia Russell, 69, died peacefully on October 1, 2025 due to unresolved health issues. She was the oldest of eight children in a military family. She learned early on how to make friends and the important role friends and family played in her life.

Mary began her career at the University of Maryland as a clerk typist and embarked on a modeling career (attending Barbizon School of Modeling), working part time jobs on the side.

Mary finally settled down joining the ranks of Corporate America where she worked hard and was chosen as 1 of 50 woman in the Fortune 50 (top 50 companies in the Nation) company to participate in an excel program. During this time, Mary was also invited to join Who’s Who International for Female Executives.

She enjoyed traveling and her first adventure was a solo trip to Northern Europe returning on the QE II.

Her leisure time/ passion in the 70’s and 80’s was music and dancing at various nightclubs. That’s where she met and fell in love with her spouse of 35 years - Margie Fox.

After 23 years working within the corporation structure, Mary left Corporate America and decided to begin a business with her spouse. They began a Herbalife International business and for the last 28 years, their business has thrived and has been in the top tiers within the Herbalife International structure.

Mary and Margie loved to travel throughout the US and abroad. Loved the Cherry Blossoms in DC in the Spring, several summer weeks at a villa in Cancun, “Leaf peeping” in Portland and Cape Elizabeth, Maine in the fall and winters in Southern Germany (Bavaria), Vienna and Salzburg, Austria (“a magical place during Advent and Christmas”).

Mary cherished her many friends and family, especially her in-laws.  She made it a priority to attend holidays, parties and special events. And loved all the nephews and nieces and celebrating their life moments.

Mary is predeceased by her spouse Margie, mother and father George and Fran Russell, brother George Russell, Jr, sister Hillary Martinez and brother-in-law Larry Green. She is survived by her sisters and brother: Holly (Ernie), Heather (Peter), Anibal, Hope (Kevin), Heidi and John; and by 25 nieces and nephews.
