Mary Deoudes Rados Obituary

Mary Deoudes Rados was born on March 22, 1931, the daughter of the late John and Evdokia Deoudes. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas S. Rados, brother James Deoudes (Tena) and sister-in-law Margaret Deoudes.  Mary is survived by her three children Steve Rados (Lisa), Eve Marinik (Gregory), and Kathy Hancock (Michael); her seven grandchildren; Megan, Tommy, Thomas, Madea, Mathew, Julie, and Michael; one great grandson, Max; her brother Logothetes Deoudes; and other extended family.  Mary is also survived by two devoted caregivers, Augusta and Sylvia, who so lovingly cared for her until her passing.

Mary was raised in NW Washington, DC where she graduated from Theodore Roosevelt HS in 1949. Mary has been a lifelong and devoted member of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Washington, DC. She was an active member of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society and of the Daughters of Penelope.

After raising her family, Mary worked for various doctors as an office manager. She enjoyed being on the go—whether visiting her many friends, dropping off baked goods to loved ones, eating out, or finding treasures at estate sales. Wherever she went, Mary was sure to leave smiles on the faces of those she encountered. Mary was known for her love of baking the best Greek pastries.

The family will receive visitors at 9:30 AM on Friday, September 29, 2023 at St. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 721 Norwood Rd, Silver Spring, MD. Funeral service to begin at 10:45 AM.
