On Saturday, September 23, 2023, Mary Teresa (Judge) King passed away peacefully at Brooke Grove Retirement Village, Sandy Spring, MD.
Mary was born on November 5, 1927 in a small village of Agloragh, Ballyhaunis, County Mayo, Ireland to her late parents Catherine Flynn Judge and Patrick J. Judge. She received her nursing degree in Nottingham, England at end of World War II. In December of 1948 she immigrated from Ireland to the United States with her fraternal twin Brigid Judge Howes (deceased), where she was sponsored by her late Uncle Mike Flynn and also joining her extended family established in Washington, DC. She continued her nursing profession working in Washington, DC for Dr. Simpson’s practice. She continued and retired as a nurse for the MCPS system.
Mary met and married her late husband Frederick William King, Jr., on September 22, 1951 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Washington, DC, officiated by Reverend John J. Dressel. Shortly after both moved to Rockville, MD (Aspen Hill – Wheaton Woods development) and joined the Shrine of St Jude’s Catholic Church where Mary joined the ladies’ Sodality group and then was involved in the flower garden club maintaining the flowers throughout the church.
Her late husband, Frederick William King, Jr., passed away on September 3, 1997. Mary leaves behind her children, Patricia M. King, Mary C. Trail (Alan – deceased), James P. King (Kim), Michael J. King (Elizabeth), Bernadette M. King (deceased – in infancy), former daughter in law Patti Creamer King, 6 grandchildren, Erin King Vettel (Tim), 1 great grandson Charlie (whom Mary got to meet on June 11, 2023), Kerry, Shannon, Eileen, Ryan (Felicia – 1 great granddaughter Avery) and Patrick.
Visitation will begin at 10:30am on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Shrine of St Jude’s Catholic Church, 12701 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville, MD, 20853. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30am. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20906.
