Mary Catherine Hartinger

On December 25, 2020, Mary Catherine (“Kay”) Hartinger passed away at age 77. Kay is survived by her husband of over 53 years and best friend, John, along with children Daniel, Scott (Jennifer) and Kevin (Lori); her siblings, Ellen Dowd (Kevin), Patricia Perzella and Joseph Perzella. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Mary (Kilgannon) Perzella.  

Kay was born in Carbondale, PA, moved to Silver Spring, MD as a child and attended the Academy of the Holy Names.  Kay and John married in 1967 and settled in Olney, MD.  

Her children and grandchildren were the greatest joys of her life.  Jack, Avery, Thomas, Ryan, Kate, Joanne and Brynne - Grandma loved you with all her heart. 

Kay was selfless. She never complained and kept a smile on her face despite fighting what we knew were physical hardships.  She simply wanted to, and did, give all she had to others. Faith, Family and Friends were what mattered to Kay.

A Requiem Mass will be held at 11:30am on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 2900 Olney Sandy Spring Rd, Olney, MD 20832.  Due to Covid restrictions, a private interment for immediate family only will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
