On Sunday, September 26th, 2021, Mary Ann Duffy, of Cloverly, MD went to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born in Pennsylvania, where she met the love of her life and late husband Stephen C. Duffy Sr. They made their loving home in Cloverly and enjoyed 59 happy years of marriage. She was preceded in death by her only son, Stephen C. Duffy, Jr. (Linda) her brother Michael Katkocin, and her sister Helen Marouchoc.
She leaves behind four daughters, Susan (Ron), Sharon (Leo), Maryanne (Rob), and Eileen (Jim); ten Grandchildren and four Great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann was a faith-filled, kind, gentle, and joyous person who was a blessing to everyone she knew. She had an endearing sense of humor, and an easy laugh to complement her beautiful smile. She loved being a homemaker and raising her five children, always supporting their many activities. She was thrilled when she became a Grandma and Great-grandma!
Being a great cook and baker, we all cherished her Easter, Christmas, and St. Patrick’s Day menus, holiday breads, desserts and celebrations. We always kidded, "There better be Paska and Kolach in Heaven!" She returned to work after her children finished Jr. High School as an Administrative Assistant at The Marian Father's Novitiate, where she cultivated many life-long friendships with the Priests, Nuns, Brothers and Novices. She was a life-long member of St. Peter's Church where she served as Eucharistic Minister, Arimathean, cooked for the S.O.M.E. organization, and participated in Bible Study and Sodality. In her youth she enjoyed dancing the Polka and Jitterbug and her favorite exercises were swimming and walking with neighbors.
Mary Ann had a humble way about her and put others needs before her own. Many people would tell us, "Your Mom is a Saint!" She is now having that great reunion with those she has loved that have gone on before her, and we know she could not be happier. She will be sorely missed!
Visitation will begin at 11am on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at St. Peter’s Church, 2900 Olney-Sandy Spring Road, Olney, MD 20832; where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12 noon. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Peter's Church, or to the S.O.M.E organization.
