Marian Bochinski Obituary

Our beloved mother, Marian L. Bochinski of Silver Spring, MD, went home to the Lord on Thursday, November 18, 2021. She was a devoted wife and mother who deeply loved her husband, Julius, married for 67 years, and together raising their 10 children and delighting in their grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Marian was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Oscar and Philomena Loewe, the second of six children. She married her husband Julius in 1948. They were beautiful dance partners who faced life’s challenges with a spirit of adventure and valued their joyous times, living first in Michigan, then Iowa, California, and finally Maryland.

Throughout her life, Marian was a devout Catholic. She weathered many changes and always accepted people’s differences in the spirit of Jesus Christ. She was the spiritual anchor for our family, full of wisdom and guidance, raising ten children with love and kindness and accepting with love and without condition every child and grandchild brought into the family by birth or adoption, and never forgot a birthday.

In addition to raising such a large family, Marian was active in charitable activities throughout her life, through the Church and other organizations, advocating for fair housing in the 50’s and 60’s, and working with inner city Catholic communities. Her generous charitable giving continues beyond her passing. She led by example, teaching her children the power of love, kindness, and respect, lessons that have now passed to the next generations.

When her youngest children were old enough, Marian re-entered the workforce, and dedicated over 20 years working as an Executive Assistant for the Sisters of Mercy headquarters in Washington DC.

In her “spare” time Marian thoroughly enjoyed playing bridge with friends and family, loved flowers and creating a beautiful garden at each family home and entertaining family and friends.

Marian was the beloved wife of Julius H. Bochinski; mother of Barbara Bochinski, Linda (Jack) Dunnigan, Stephen (Debra) Bochinski, Janet Bochinski (Pat), Mark (Janet) Bochinski, Carol (John) Van Pelt,  David (Karen) Bochinski, Patrick Bochinski, Michael (Vicki) Bochinski and Terri (Mark) Ciamarra.. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, and so many nieces and nephews.
