Margaret Mary (Gibbons) Young

Margaret Mary (Gibbons) Young, of Kensington, MD, passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 18, 2020.  Beloved wife of the late Herbert Young; loving mother of Michael, Kathleen, Jean Musgrave (Kenneth), John, Thomas (Kimberly), Timothy, and the late Mary Ann Chasen (Steven); 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.  Predeceased by her parents, Dr. Frank and Florence Gibbons; brothers John and Francis; sisters Patricia Macker (Bill) and Jean Davidson (Jack).  Survived by sister-in-law Joan Gibbons and countless nieces and nephews. 

Margaret was born May 9, 1932 in Scranton, PA.   She graduated St. Martin's Grade School in Washington DC and then was a member of the 1950 graduation class of Notre Dame Academy in Washington, DC.  Margaret was married at Holy Trinity Church in Georgetown in 1952 to the late Herbert Young (deceased 1998).  She worked as a homemaker and full-time mother.  Margaret was a parishioner of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Kensington, MD for 62 years.  She was also a member of the Leisure Club, Sodality and PTA of Holy Redeemer, Friendship Club of St. Paul's Methodist Church, Women's Community Club of Kensington, and several bowling leagues.  

Relatives and friends may call at 10:30 am on Tuesday, November 24 at Holy Redeemer Church, 9705 Summit Avenue, Kensington, MD 20895, where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30am.  Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.  Please note that those in attendance will be required to wear masks and observe the social distancing protocols.
