On September 23, 2025, Marcia Yolanda Marañon Naranjo passed away peacefully at ninety, surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife and mother known for her kindness, strong faith and work ethic.
At 22, she emigrated from Quito, Ecuador to New York City and proudly considered herself a New Yorker, always moving forward with resilience.
In April 1960, she married Jose Naranjo, and relocated to Washington, DC, and in 1970, they bought a home in Bethesda, Maryland, where they raised four children.
Marcia worked as a cosmetologist in Bethesda for over 40 years. Her clients were more than customers; touched by her kindness they became close friends she treated like family.
Engaging with people was when she was at her best, always so thoughtful and caring.
Marcia cherished her family and made sure that her home was always a welcoming place for all.
She was married for 64 years to the late Jose Naranjo (2024) and is survived by her children Paul (Desiree), Elena (Bill), Marcia (Paul), Joseph, and grandchildren Thomas, William, Veronica, and Dean. Also surviving are her sisters Gladis Marañon, Teresa Villacres (Patricio), sister-in-law Rosario Aguilera, and many extended family members and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held on October 8, 2025, at 11 AM at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, followed by Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery at approximately 1PM. Visitation will occur in the church narthex from 10:30 AM until the start of the service.
