Li Ping Sun

Li Ping Sun, 46, of Potomac MD, passed away on 1/23/2024 in Shady Grove Adventist Hospital after a more than a year journey with recurrent tongue cancer.  Li was loving mother of two daughters Aurora and Arabella.  

Li was born on December 21, 1977 in Kunming, China, She graduated in 1999 from Xiamen University of China, where she received her Bachelor degree of Finance and Banking. She immigrated to the United States in 2000 and married to her husband Lin Ye.  In 2004 she received MS. in Computer System Management, special track in Information Technology Management, University of Maryland University College. She worked in Fannie Mae as Infrastructure Development, S/IR until 2012.

In January 2012, she joined US Patent & Trademark Office as Patent Examiner. In 2016, she became a primary Patent examiner in Technology Center 2100.  After that, she was promoted to Quality Assurance Specialist in Technology Center 3600 in 2021.  She is hard working person and received Bronze Medal Award with outstanding performance rating from United States Department of Commerce in 2018.

Li enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, watching movies and various television mystery series, and was passionate about Zumba Dance.  She was always happy, enjoyed life with a gentle warm heart, for which she was treasured.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Gaithersburg Chinese Alliance Church, 13101 Darnestown Rd, Gaithersburg, MD 20878 on Saturday, February 3 at 9:15am.  Interment to follow at George Washington Cemetery in Adelphi, MD.
