Lawrence Ambrose Gallagher of Olney, Maryland passed away peacefully on May 19, 2022. Lawrence was born in Axtel, Kansas to Charles and Catherine Gallagher on October 1, 1939. He is survived by his wife, Frances; his brother, Glynn (Marita); sons, Steven (Marsea), Randy (Coleen) and Philip; grandsons, Michael, Patrick, Kevin, Colin, and Ty; and great grandson, Lucas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Wilma, Leonard, and Joe.
Lawrence graduated from St. Benedict’s College in Atchison, Kansas and retired from the Navy as a Commander, after 23 years of service, which included several shipboard tours, shore commands, a Naval Postgraduate School Master’s Degree, and the Vietnam War. He started a second career with Stanley Associates, a government contracting firm, where he rose to be the Chief Executive Officer.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Lawrence was best known for his generosity, service, racquet ball, and his love of farming. He also coached numerous basketball and baseball teams and was a generous benefactor for St. Benedict’s College and St. Patrick Parish.
On May 26th, a viewing will be held from 1030-1130 AM at St. Patrick’s Church in Rockville, Maryland and is immediately followed by a Funeral Mass and by a burial at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Services will be live streamed via the following link - https://youtu.be/adKLADusIN4
