Julio Roberto Rivas died unexpectedly on Friday, October 28, 2022. He was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala and immigrated to the United States in 1958 at 17 years old. Julio met his wife Aida in Washington, DC in 1962. Together they raised four children Julio Roberto Jr. (Linda), Hugo Rolando (deceased), Sergio Raul (Heather), and Glenda Elizabeth. He had 11 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Aura Marina Rivas Najera, many nieces and nephews, and many, friends.
Julio was a typesetter and worked for the United States Supreme Court for 25 years. He took great pride in his career. He also took great pride in his family and his Guatemalan roots. He loved traveling back to Guatemala as much as possible and visiting his beloved extended family. Julio was loved by all, lived a very full and happy life, will be profoundly missed and we are all eternally grateful for having him be a part of all our lives.
Visitation will be at the Shrine of Saint Jude’s Catholic Church, 12701 Veirs Mill Rd, Rockville, MD 20853 on Friday, November 4, 2022 from 10:00-10:30am with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Interment to follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD. Repast will be in the Thaddeus Room at the Shrine of Saint Jude’s.
