He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 60 years, Lefkothea (Lefki) along with his steadfast daughter Athanasia, his benevolent son George and Michelle, and his compassionate adoring grandson Demetrios.  In addition to his wife, children, and grandson, John was blessed with 24 nieces and nephews and 34 grand nieces and nephews.

John was born in a small village on Friday, January 24th, 1930, in Vourvoura, Greece.  He was the eleventh of thirteen children to George and Athanasia.  John immigrated to the United States in April of 1956, where he worked three jobs to learn the English language, save enough money and returned to Greece where he met and married his wife Lefki.  After their honeymoon John and Lefki returned to the United States to live-out the "American Dream" and bought their first home in Washington, D.C. John worked for Giant Food as a Produce Supervisor for 40 years and retired in March, 1991. He enjoyed taking trips back home to Greece but much of his retirement was spent devoted to his beloved family and his grandson Demetrios.

John enjoyed having time with his family in addition to tending to his fresh vegetable garden, raising money for Saint Constantine and Helen Church Library, and sharing his insight and wisdom to lifelong learned lessons.  John was a source of strength, might, and influence to all those around him.  He proved with hard work, established goals, and following the will of God, bestowed him the so countless blessings during his lifetime on Earth. He was a source of strength, a fountain of wisdom, and a pillar of support to many of his family and friends.

Though John will no longer walk beside any of us, his spirit will forever resonate in the smile and laughter of his grandson, Demetrios.  His long-life experience, advice, and stories, shared around the family table, with the respect, honor and love bonded his family/ friends humbly which will live forever in their heart and mind.
