John Karl Fisher, aged 73, passed away on October 14, 2024 at his home in Riverdale, Maryland. Born on March 6, 1951 in the Washington, DC area, he was the beloved child of Karl and Mary Fisher. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
John graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in business transportation, and went on to work as a military parts buyer and consultant for a variety of government organizations and contractors before his retirement in 2020. He also worked concessions at the Verizon Center which allowed him to see nearly every band he wished to in concert, as well as catch Washington Capitals and Wizards games.
John spent most his free time down on the Chesapeake Bay at the family beach house in Long Beach, Maryland, where he made many friends and became a cherished part of the community. While not at the beach, he would spend his time on his hobbies which included collecting and restoring vintage audio equipment and woodworking, as well as playing games and spending time with his large and loving family.
John is survived by three children and their partners; three grandchildren; four siblings and two of their their spouses; one cousin and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, all of whom he loved dearly. Some of them had bestowed upon him the title of “The Most Interesting Man in the World,” but most would just say that he was” the best.”
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 26 at 11:00 AM at Saint Jerome Catholic Church, 5205 43rd Ave, Hyattsville, MD 20781. Following the service we will be receiving guests at the Feldman residence.
