Joanne Regan Bland of Silver Spring, MD, passed away peacefully in the company of family on February 1, 2023 at the age of 93.
Joanne’s life was centered on her strong Catholic faith and devotion to family. She spent most of her life in Silver Spring, although her favorite years were the ones she spent living in Ft. Myers, FL. Joanne was preceded in death by her husband Harry Bland, three of her children, and her younger sister Edna Regan Devlin. She is survived by a large loving family including her sister Jean Regan Parsley, her son Michael Bland, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a large extended family.
Joanne lived most of her final years in Leisure World where she was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She loved family gatherings and never missed a chance to visit with her sisters. She was an avid bridge player and loved time spent gardening. She was well loved for her candor and dry sense of humor. Joanne kept an extensive list of all the people who asked her to pray for them – family, healthcare workers, friends and even total strangers. Once someone was added to her list, she prayed for them every day right up through the week she died. She faced the end of her life with the certainty of her faith and looked forward to being reunited with all her family who went on before her.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 10am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church adjacent to Leisure World in Silver Spring, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am and Interment will be immediately after the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
