Jerry L. Baratte

Jerry L. Baratte, of Rockville Maryland, originally of Asheville, age 91, passed away on June 18, 2023 at Casey House Hospice of Montgomery County.

Jerry was born in Robbinsville, North Carolina, a small town on the Tennessee boarder, on March 29, 1932. She was raised in Asheville, North Carolina by her mother Pauline M. Roberts née Taylor, and her grandparents. She spent her formative years in North Carolina before moving to the Washington DC area in the 1940’s. She went to high school in the DC area and after high school met her future husband Richard H Baratte and they were married in October of 1950. She had two children, Guy Robert Baratte and Richard Andrew Baratte. Unfortunately, Richard Andrew passed away at a young age.

She remained a dedicated homemaker until Guy finished grade school and then she went to work full time. She worked several jobs before landing her job at C&P Telephone where she worked for over 20 years. Due to her diligence and reliability, she obtained several promotions before retiring. After retirement, she and her husband split their time between the East Coast of Florida and Rockville MD. In Florida she was active in the church with volunteer activities and also enjoyed playing cards and crocheting. She was an avid reader and appreciated older films.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Richard H Baratte, of Rockville, MD, son Guy Robert Baratte, of Ormond Beach, FL, and sister Caroline Logie, of Brandon Mississippi. She is preceded in death by her son Richard Andrew Baratte.

Funeral services for Jerry will be held on Monday, July 3, 2023 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 15663 Norbeck Blvd, Silver Spring, MD 20906. Visitation will be from 10am – 11am, with Funeral Mass at 11 am. interment  immediately following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20906. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or Montgomery Hospice (www.montgomeryhospice.org)
