Jeanne “Jean” Frances Crossland of Orrtanna, Pa passed away in her home in Silver Spring, Md. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.
She was born in Washington, DC on May 13, 1949, to late Leroy and Jeanne (Rogers) Fangmeyer, is survived by her children, William and Jennifer Kuhn, grandchildren, Madelyn and Vivianne Kuhn, Stepchildren, Andy and Tim Crossland and Ami Beth Green, her six siblings, many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, other relatives, and her dog baby.
Jean’s youth was spent on Inwood Ave in Silver Spring, Md. She attended Montgomery College before moving to Emmitsburg, Md to raise her children. While in Emmitsburg she worked in the career center at Mount St. Mary’s University as an administrator’s assistant, attended night school to complete her bachelor’s degree and helped manage a small hobby farm.
She remarried in 1995 to Andrew Crossland and relocated to Orrtanna, Pa. where she spent the next 27 years. For a time, she worked nights as a dispatcher for Mount St Mary’s University, worked in a garden nursery and in the local winery tasting rooms. She enjoyed swimming, gardening, joking around with family and playing dominos. She was a lector and loyal parishioner at St. Ingnatius Loyola Church before returning in 2022 to Silver Spring, Md.
A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 15661 Norbeck Blvd, Silver Spring, MD 20906 · Visitation 10:00-11:00am and Mass 11:00am. A reception will follow the service at Manor Country Club, 14901 Carrolton Rd, Rockville, MD 20853.
Flowers should be delivered to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church the morning of services.
