James Quinn Obituary

James Lawrence “Jim” Quinn, Jr. of Rockville, Maryland passed on to Eternal Life December 3, 2021.  Jim is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Judith Walsh “Judy“ Quinn; his five children James III (Mary), Norah (Blake), John, Nancy (John) and Christopher (Sandra);  ten grandchildren Meaghan (Ken), Christopher (Zohreh), Michael (Alanna), Norah (Brendan), Blake, Mary, Quinn (Caitlin), Sean, Abigael and Eliza; and four great grandchildren Olivia, Maddie, Maeve and Catherine; and by countless extended family members and friendships of many decades. He was predeceased by his siblings, John A. Quinn and Harriet Leasure.

A native Washingtonian, Jim attended Gonzaga College High School and Georgetown University and Law. An attorney and businessman, Jim spent most his career as an executive at Devlin Lumber and Supply. In retirement, he enjoyed working a number of years at Collins Funeral Home.

For over fifty years, Jim was very active at St Patrick’s Church as well as the Archdiocese of Washington. He was honored to receive the Cardinal’s Order of Merit Award in 2003 for extraordinary service. Jim was a proud honorary lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.

An avid sports fan, Jim enjoyed playing golf and softball. He coached youth and CYO teams for many years. Jim’s greatest love was always his family. Jim and Judy enjoyed music, travel and a lifetime of laughter. Theirs was the door always open to family and friends. He enjoyed participating in and attending athletic, academic, theatrical, scouting and musical endeavors of his children and grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4101 Norbeck Road,  Rockville, MD 20853 on Friday, December 17, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 11:30 am.  Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Rockville, MD.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 4200 Harewood Rd., NE, Washington, DC 20017.
