James Gerard Obituary

James Scott Gerard, our Jimmy, with a heart of gold, always ready to help a friend, died peacefully in his sleep on May 22nd, feast day of St. Rita of Cassia.

Jimmy attended Seneca Valley High School and Montgomery College. His occupations included Home Renovating and Hospitality. At Seneca Valley he played football and excelled in club volleyball. He was on the Churchill South Swim Team for years, and still holds a free style record for boys 8 and under!

Jimmy was a huge sports fan and loved (LOUDLY!) cheering on the Redskins and Capitals. Metallica was his favorite band and he was so looking forward to going to see them at the end of the month. Thankfully, he was able to go to many concerts with his friends in the past.

Jimmy really enjoyed traveling.  He flew to California often to visit with family for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  He had the best time on a big family cruise in July of 2022, and then an Alaskan Cruise, which he called “the trip of a lifetime”, in 2023 with cousins Nick and Steve.

He truly loved his family.  His sister Christy and brother in law Matt were so special to him. His Niece, Megan, and Nephew and Godson, Josh, were the lights and loves of his life. He was close to his cousins,Tracee, Lisa, Joey, Nick, Steven, Matt, and Greg, and their spouses and kids.  He also spent time with his Aunts and Uncles, Diane and Glenn Ferenschak, Joe and Nancy Baldino, and Jim and Karen Sartoris. His Mom, “Mama” Joanie, and Dad, Al, meant the world to him. He was best friends with his doggie sister, Mini.

His friends, Nick Botkin and Ryan Fernandez, have been with Jimmy since elementary school. Steve Johnson and other good friends brought him so much happiness.

His faith was strong. He loved God and knew God loved him and was with him in good times and carried him through bad times.  Rest now with God, Jimmy.
