Hilde Uapingena Henderson Obituary

Hilde Uapingena Henderson, age 67, of Silver Spring, MD passed away unexpectedly in her home on May 26, 2026. She was born April 29, 1959, in Omaruru, Namibia, South-West Africa. By 1973, she had trained and worked as a nurse in Namibia. Due to political unrest, in 1985 Hilde immigrated to Washington, DC, USA as a refugee sponsored by The Catholic University of America. Once established, Hilde had an extensive career in healthcare and administration before retiring due to medical reasons. In 1991, Hilde married Kenrick Henderson and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family.

Outside of family and work, Hilde had a passion for fashion, finding rare & vintage home decor, and bringing people together. She loved hosting parties, traveling, going on road trips, and she is best known for her enthusiastic sense of humor. Hilde was quite the storyteller; she could captivate an audience with her wit and unique interpretation of the world around her. She was also very generous, opening her home to those who needed a place to rest and regroup.

Hilde is survived by her husband Kenrick, her daughters Biola and Vanessa, her son David, her late son’s fiancée Marie, and her granddaughter Anaya. She was preceded in death by her parents and her eldest son, Roy.

A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday June 24, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church - 4101 Norbeck RD, Rockville, MD 20853.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the family to help cover the cost of the service. Donations can be sent via CashApp at $StubbornBb (Biola).
