Harry Kane Obituary

Harry J. Kane, age 84, of Germantown, MD, (formerly of Fishkill, N.Y. and Sanford N.C.) died peacefully surrounded by family on March 8, 2019. Beloved husband of 61 years of marriage to Joan Myers Kane; Devoted father to Cynthia (Mark) von Heeringen, Harry (Tina) Kane, Jr., and Christopher; Loving Pop-Pop to Julia, Mark, Austin and Kate von Heeringen and Morgan and Harry Kane, III.

Mr. Kane, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., began his 33 year career with Nabisco at age 18, rising to a senior level as a packaging plant manager. After retiring from Nabisco, he pursued a sales career before relocating with Joan to Carolina Trace in Sanford, N.C in 1998. There they enjoyed 19 years of retirement living filled with golf, tennis, laughter, and a whole new set of great friends. Harry and Joan traveled extensively enjoying European vacations and many cruises in the company of family and friends.

While his last years were a struggle as he battled Parkinson’s dementia, he never lost his sense of humor, and always lit up when his family came for a visit.

Though he will be missed terribly, his family takes comfort in knowing he is at peace and has gone home to God.

Family will receive visitors at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 15th at Mother Seton Parish, 19951 Father Hurley Blvd., Germantown, MD, 20874, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. Internment in St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village, N.Y. will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
